Beach Resort
Positioned along one of New Zealand’s most beautiful stretches of coastline at the entrance to the Abel Tasman national park, this proposed Beach Resort is designed to be in harmony with the landscape and the rich history and culture of the area. The scheme includes a main hotel building, and a collection of mostly single-level accommodation units spread throughout the 14 hectare site. A simple, natural palette of materials will be used: rough-sawn, timber posts, naturally weathering and stained plywood, timber louvers/ battens, Corten steel and zinc sheet, concrete panels and stone walls. Environmentally sustainable design principles and details inspired by traditional Maori pattern making are integrated into the design.
