South City Christian Church Alterations
Christchurch
This is a proposal for the revitalisation of a 1950’s central city church, including the re-strengthening of the existing congregational hall and annexe. A new cafe, offices and teaching facility have been designed around the addition of a contemporary, two storey circulation link. A central atrium would provide a three level congregation space, connecting the old and new. A new composition for the street frontage is designed to encourage more positive interaction with pedestrians. The church is currently being assessed following the recent earthquakes.
