FENDALTON HOUSE Existing buildings inevitably come with a set of constraints often translating into unique design opportunities. In this instance a 1950s two level family house on a sunny north facing site bordering a stream offered immense potential. Previous alterations required demolition leaving a modest footprint that would not meet the requirements of the new program. A new pavilion perpendicular to the main house provides much needed family living with bedrooms extending above offering shade to a deck below that links to a new pool area. Re cladding with stained cedar and zinc provides a continuity between old and new. With careful attention paid to detailing of new timber doors and windows, the style of this fifties house has been maintained as a crafted family home. |
