KARORI HOUSE II After considerable market research, the client approached HMA to completely refurbish their existing house. The site provided difficulties regarding bulk and location, but retained extraordinary views out over Wellington. The bulk and location considerations indicated that the existing shell should be retained, but that new additions could create new exterior spaces around the house to maximise sun and shelter. The Bedroom and Living areas all address these exterior spaces and the focus of the house became an extensive Kitchen space located at its heart. Attention has been given to inserting and integrating new into old, both in terms of volume and with detailing. The final house is a representation of past, present and future. Under construction. |
