KARORI HOUSE II This house alteration in Karori was driven by our clients’ strong desire to stay in this location, combined with a need to upgrade the environmental conditions and adapt the planning to their present life style. The approach was to keep the simple volume of the original 1960’s house and remove a long series of unsympathetic additions. The remaining elements were then re-planned: including moving the entry stair; adding a new bedroom wing to the rear and giving the house a new urban front. The new addition to the rear allowed the introduction of a sheltered living room courtyard. |
