Herriot + Melhuish: Architecture |
BEACH RESORT On a site along one of New Zealand’s most beautiful stretches of coastline at the entrance to a prominent national park, this proposed Beach Resort will be a striking group of buildings; in harmony with the landscape and the rich history and culture of the area. The scheme includes a main hotel building and a collection of mostly single-level accommodation units spread throughout the 14 hectare site. A simple, natural palette of materials will be used: rough-sawn, timber posts, naturally weathering and stained plywood, timber louvers/ battens, Corten steel and zinc sheet, concrete panels and stone walls. Environmentally Sustainable Design principles will be integrated into the design |
