Herriot + Melhuish: Architecture |
REMBRANDT INTERIORS Rembrandt commissioned HMA to design the fit out for both their factory near Wellington and their retail tenancy within a shopping mall in Sydney. Both projects feature careful, economical work with limited space, modest budget and restrained palette of materials. Within the Sydney retail space of only forty square metres the fit out functions primarily as a display showroom for visiting clients, but also as an office with meeting facilities. The objective has been to maximise the sense of space and focus on the product. Storage and display functions are either completely concealed or encased as a recess within the wall fabric. Back lighting of translucent panels and a large mirrored wall at one end have also been used as devices to increase the perception of space. At the factory near Wellington, the fit out was more extensive, including reception, showroom, offices and staff facilities. |
